Yesterday, Hamilton-creator Lin-Manuel Miranda went to Capitol Hill to convince lawmakers to preserve funding for federal arts and humanities, and sang a few show tunes in between.
To drive it home, he also met with senators like Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine), making it probably the most exciting day in Congress this year.
Needless to say, it blew us all away.
Miranda added “Congress train” into the lyrics of various popular Broadway songs as Congressmen watched on like deer in headlights.
No one knew how to react, but they sure were having fun.
As the videos continue, he gets more comfortable, putting his arms around those supporting his efforts.
He even gets the whole train to sing along for the grand finale.
History sure does have its eyes on Lin-Manuel Miranda after today. We sincerely hope Miranda’s lobbying convinced lawmakers to preserve arts and humanities funding.
