Near-death experience: Woman recounts brush with death as a child – ‘I was home’

A woman known only as Barbara S to protect her privacy has revealed what she thinks happened after she almost died as a child. Although the event occurred more than 50 years ago, when aged 10, the woman recounted her story to the Near-Death Experience Foundation (NDERF) in remarkable detail.

She said: “It was a beautiful sunny summer day when I was at our family’s wood cabin in northern Michigan.

I knew I was part of this light; I belonged to this light. I was home

‘Barbara S’

“In front of the cabin was a river. The water was perfectly clear. I could not swim at the time.

“I was wading out in the water and the water was at chest height. I was looking at the sky and listening to nature and I took another step out and found there was no bottom and I went under the water and the river started to move me to the right.

“The last thing I remember thinking and seeing in my body, was that I could see so far underwater and that the water was so clear.”

It was then Barbara believes she had a supernatural experience.

She said: “The next thing I remember was I came into this clear white light.

“As soon as I came into this light, all my fear of drowning was gone and I felt this light envelop me.

“This clear white light was all around me that I could see.

“I didn’t look behind me but I know it was behind me too. I felt this total love and acceptance of me and I felt the same with the light.

“I knew I was part of this light; I belonged to this light. I was home.

“I then realised there was a presence in this light and I realised I was light, too.”

The woman then attempts to articulate the episode’s almost incomprehensible nature.

She said: “We were the same but with different personalities. I couldn’t see anybody for myself or a body in the light.

“The light then told me ‘you are here to learn how to love and to gain knowledge’.

“When I was told this, all the implications of the word love and knowledge were imparted to me.

“With the word ‘love’, it wasn’t just about physical love but the love of nature, accepting all people as the same, everything that pertained to love.

“The same was with knowledge. It wasn’t just about book knowledge but about learning about different cultures, histories of the world.

“I felt when I was told this that it wasn’t just my reason for being on Earth but all of our reason for being here: mankind.”

She added how she believes the event had a profound impact on her life.

Barbara said: “ When I look back over my life I can see I have been doing exactly what I was told to do in the light that day.

“My life has been all about learning and since I have been on the net, I have made many friends all over the world.

“There was no time there. I don’t know if I was only there for seconds, minutes or what.

“I knew my body was safe when I came into the light. I knew I was going back to my body.

“I don’t remember leaving the light. I don’t remember getting back into my body. That has all been blocked.”

Stories involving people reportedly experiencing such events have been recounted by those brought back from the brink of death since the time of Greek philosopher such as Sophocles.

Near-death experiences are commonly cited as proof there is a life after death or the existence of an immortal soul.

However, scientists are now certain they can offer a more rational explanation for such profound experiences.

They now believe phenomenons such as travelling through tunnels are simply the consequence of reduced blood flow to the brain.

Researcher Dr Jimo Borjigin, who studied the brain activity in dying rats, said in 2013: ”This study, performed in animals, is the first dealing with what happens to the neurophysiological state of the dying brain.

“We reasoned that if near-death experience stems from brain activity, neural correlates of consciousness should be identifiable in humans or animals even after the cessation of cerebral blood flow.”

Spike Lee’s New Viagra Movie Musical Is Arousing A Lot Of Attention

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Director Spike Lee, best known for making movies about the experience of being Black in America, is switching course with his first ever musical – on the subject of Viagra.

Lee will direct the as-yet-untitled film from a screenplay he has co-written about the discovery and launch of the erectile dysfunction drug. It is based on a 2018 article in Esquire magazine called “All Rise,” producers said on Tuesday.

Original songs and music will be written by the duo behind the 2008 Tony-award winning rock musical “Passing Strange,” about a Black artist’s journey of self discovery.

The 63-year-old Brooklyn native said in a statement that he had grown up hating musicals despite the efforts of his mother. “Finally Going Into My 4th Decade As A Filmmaker I Will Be Directing A DANCIN’, ALL SINGIN’ MUSICAL,” he added.

Pfizer Inc’s Viagra, first marketed in 1998, was originally developed as a potential treatment for heart-related chest pain.

Lee won his first Oscar in 2019 for the screenplay of Ku Klux Klan satire “BlacKkKlansman.” His more than 50 movies and documentaries include classics such as “Do the Right Thing,” “Malcolm X” and this year’s Vietnam War survivor drama “Da 5 Bloods.”

Wilbur The French Bulldog Declared ‘Mayor’ Of Tiny Kentucky Town

In the midst of all the uncertainty surrounding the 2020 election, one bright spot emerged on Tuesday as Wilbur, a French bulldog, won mayorship of Rabbit Hash, a tiny community in Kentucky’s Boone County.

The jury’s still out on what Wilbur’s policies are going to be, but the handsome pup was a popular choice, claiming 13,143 out of 22,985 votes in a new record. According to local reports, he will be replacing Mayor Brynneth Pawltro, a pit bull who has dutifully served since 2017.

Wilbur’s closest opponents were Jack Rabbit, a beagle, and Poppy, a golden retriever. Lady Stone, a border collie that serves as the ambassador of the town, will be keeping her position and announced news of Wilbur’s win on her Facebook page. The Frenchie has his own Facebook page as well, showing images of his hard-won campaign to become mayor of “the most magical place on Earth.”

Rabbit Hash — a census-designated place by the Ohio River consisting mainly of a general store — chooses its mayors “based on the candidates’ willingness to have their belly scratched,” according to the community’s website. These four-legged public officials promote the town, which is owned by the Rabbit Hash Historical Society, and locals can “vote” for candidates every four years by donating to the society. Wilbur’s campaign for mayor raised $6,165 on an online fundraising page.

The first mayor of Rabbit Hash was Goofy Borneman, a dog born of “unknown parentage” who entered office in 1998 when Boone County held a bicentennial celebration and a mayoral race for Rabbit Hash started. Despite an alleged tendency to poach chickens, Goofy won the position with gusto, and Rabbit Hash’s mayorship has been held by canines ever since.

All the best Black Friday gaming deals in the UK: Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, and more

We’ve checked all the best gaming offers from Black Friday 2020, and we’ll be posting a handpicked selection of the very best deals on this page. If you’re looking for something else, we recommend checking out the following pages:

Gaming is an expensive hobby. You’ll be lucky to have any cash left once you’ve purchased a console, desktop, or laptop, and then stocked up on all the necessary games and accessories. It all adds up, so you should do everything you can to find the best deals on gaming essentials. There are plenty of opportunities to save on consoles, games, headsets, controllers, and more each year, but nothing comes to Black Friday.

Black Friday (and Cyber Monday) is famous for gaming deals, so if you are looking to indulge your passion for gaming and save some money at the same time, these sales are a good place to start.

When is Black Friday and Cyber Monday in 2020?

Black Friday takes place on the Friday after Thanksgiving every year, and that falls on Nov. 27 in 2020. Cyber Monday comes right after Black Friday, so will be on Nov. 30 this year. Those are the two dates you need to circle in your calendar, but really this shopping event lasts much longer than just a couple of days.

Black Friday is basically a whole month of deals these days, and the line between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is pretty blurred at this point. With Prime Day in October and Christmas sales probably starting in early December, we’re essentially getting three months of deals to end the year.

What gaming deals will we see in 2020?

The world of gaming is obviously preoccupied at the moment, and the only thing anyone wants to know about is stock for the Xbox Series X and PS5. We don’t expect to see any deals on next-gen consoles, because it’s too soon for that, but there are likely to be plenty of opportunities to save elsewhere. You have a better chance of finding deals on accessories for the next-gen consoles, so it could be worth keeping an eye on controllers and headsets.

All leading gaming retailers start dropping deals from the start of November, with offers on everything from stacked bundles to new releases. So what can gamers expect from Black Friday and Cyber Monday in 2020? The likes of Amazon, Currys, and Argos have a history of posting impressive gaming deals, but it isn’t just these guys. Pretty much every gaming retailer will offer some big savings during this busy shopping season, so if you don’t see what you are looking for from one retailer, remain calm and move onto the next. We repeat: don’t panic.

The PS4 and Xbox One will probably feature in plenty of bundle deals over Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and we have already seen lots of discounted Nintendo Switches. These deals are always popular during this period, and we don’t expect anything to change in 2020. There is also the Nintendo Switch Lite to consider if that’s more your thing.

We don't expect to see deals on next-gen consoles, but you could find offers on accessories.

New games have been known to drop to half price at this time, so if you resisted the urge to grab something on release, you might end up bagging a great deal in November.

Where can you find the best gaming deals in 2020?

The best retailers to consider if you’re looking to invest in a console, game, or accessory are the names you would expect. There are no big surprises here, but these are the names you should check out for the best deals during Black Friday:

  • Argos — Probably won’t have the range of deals that the likes of Amazon and Currys will offer, but you can often find gems on Argos. We recommend keeping a close eye on Argos if you’re looking for deals on the Nintendo Switch and accessories.

  • Amazon — This massive online retailer is always a hit on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and it should probably be your first option when it comes to gaming deals. You can find absolutely everything on the site, and the Amazon Gaming Store simplifies the process of finding the best deals.

  • CD Keys — This is normally the best spot to find deals on gaming subscriptions like Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus memberships. We can’t make any promises for this year, but we would be shocked if CD Keys didn’t drop some decent deals to keep you occupied over the Christmas holidays.

  • Currys PC World — Currys PC World normally offers genuine competition to Amazon when it comes to gaming deals, and offered a wide range of deals on the Nintendo Switch, PS4 Pro, and Xbox One S consoles in 2019. We’re expecting more of the same in 2020, so it’s always worth comparing prices between Currys and the other leading retailers at this time of the year.

  • Game — We saw plenty of great discounts from Game in 2019, and there are likely to be a lot more in 2020. Game’s best deals generally tend to be bundles, and with next-gen releases, most retailers will be looking to clear old stock. That means lots of impressive deals on Xbox One and PS4 bundles.

  • John Lewis — This might not seem like the most obvious place to find gaming deals, but there are always plenty of offers to consider on consoles, controllers, games, and more. It’s also a good spot to find deals on virtual reality and PC gaming products, with lots of laptops on offer.

There are going to be absolutely loads of deals elsewhere, but you are going to save yourself a lot of time and energy by prioritising these sites.

The best gaming deals in 2019

Last year, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch bundle deals offered the best opportunities to save, and we’re expecting more of the same this year. In fact, with next-gen releases, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a massive increase in bundle deals this year, as retailers look to clear old stock. That means you should be able to stock up on previous-generation games and consoles for less in 2020.

Amazon offered reduced prices on PS Plus annual memberships and physical editions of games, and Argos reduced the price of PS4 and Xbox One bundles. Currys and John Lewis also offered deals on bundles, alongside savings on PS VR bundles, gaming laptops, and gaming headsets.

UFO sighting: NASA debunks alien hunter’s claim they discovered on Moon

The space agency wrote on its LROC site: “While not entirely clear without a better understanding of melt pond dynamics for still-molten deposits, we note that moderately viscous materials can behave in odd ways.

“The isolated occurrence of individual domes suggests molten behaviour with each dome forming in-situ from a local source just beneath its position.

“Since the phenomenon is occurring in impact melt, we would be wrong to call this behaviour volcanic.

“But something similar to volcanism in the sense that molten rock is locally ‘erupting’ from an accumulated, still-hot deposit, might be appropriate for conceptual purposes.

Japanese Mask Maker Dumps Trump, Embraces Biden

TOKYO, Nov 12 (Reuters) – For a mask producer in Japan, the transition from President Donald Trump to Joe Biden has been a smooth one, as it switches production to masks of the Democrat president-elect.

Ogawa Studios, a small producer in Saitama, north of Tokyo, starting making rubber Biden masks earlier this year but since his election win last week, it has ramped up production.

In October alone, 1,000 Biden masks were sold for 2,400 yen ($22.81) each, and the company has set a goal of producing a further 25,000 by year’s end.

Meanwhile, the Trump masks, which cost the same, have been relegated to the bottom of the company’s product line.

Ogawa Studio manager Koki Takahashi said it was much easier to produce a caricature of Trump, whose mask appears to be shouting, than it was for Biden.

Biden’s caricature is much more low-key, with a gentle smile.

“We didn’t have any background information on Biden so it was hard to grasp his character,” said Takahashi.

“But we especially paid close attention to the corner of his eyes and his mouth to make it.”

The real-life Biden continues to lay the groundwork for his administration, against the backdrop of a resurgence of COVID-19 cases across the United States, while Trump refuses to accept the election’s outcome.
